Alexandria National Museum is seemingly small museum located in a former palace built back in 1926 by one rich pasha. The collection of the museum is impressive, because there are exhibits not previously exhibited in any museum in Egypt. Unique ancient Egyptian artifacts and elegant Greek-Roman artifacts will amaze you with its diversity.
The museum exhibits artifacts illustrating the numerous transformations of Alexandria since its modest appearance in Pharaoh's times and up to its development by Alexander the Great and Mohammed Ali. In order to harmonize the interior design of the museum and its exhibits, the Italian designer Maurizso de Paulo created sophisticated hanging diagonal display cases displaying exhibits at the museum.
He painted the walls of the museum in each room in different colors to create the right atmosphere for each era. Artifacts are presented in chronological order, rising from one floor to another, and the hall in the basement is turned into an audiovisual workshop, where visitors can take a tour of the museum using computer programs that display each item from different angles along with a corresponding explanation.
