To see the amazing temples of Abu Simbel, located on the Nubian territory, 280 km south of Aswan, 70 km north of the border with Sudan, you have to get up early in the morning and go on an amazing journey south to Abu Simbel city to discover the temples.
Our excursion to Abu Simbel will be taken under convoy. All comers gather in one place in Aswan and leave at the same time towards Abu Simbel, returning exactly the same way at the same time. Our guide will pick you up from the hotel early in the morning, around 3 am, depending on the time of year and the security conditions in effect at the time of your excursion. The journey may take up to three hours. At about 6 am you will arrive at the temples.
Sightseeing tour of the area includes visits to two temples. The large temple of Ramses II, whose temple facade is unique in its kind with four colossal statues of 20 meters in height, depicting the pharaoh Ramses II sitting on a throne. On the sides of each statue are two smaller figures depicting his mother and his beloved wife Nefertiti. Between the legs you can see his children.
And the smaller temple, located about 100 meters north of the great temple and carved in the same mountain rock - the Temple of Nefertari. It was dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Queen Nefertari, who was worshiped as a goddess. The temple is 12 meters high and 28 meters wide and is decorated with 6-meter high relief statues that are located in niches.
