Cairo to Luxor via oases 5 days tour | Western desert safari tour from Cairo
★★★★★ 5 / 5 306 ReviewsEmbark on a desert expedition through Egypt’s Western Desert, exploring the dramatic landscapes of the Black and White Deserts, remote oases, ancient tombs, early Christian sites, and ending your journey in Luxor. This tour combines nature, off-road adventure, Bedouin camping, and cultural highlights in one unforgettable journey.
Journey into the Heart of the Desert: Bahariya Oasis to Agabat Valley
Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Cairo at 07:00 AM, heading west toward the Bahariya Oasis. After a scenic drive through the desert road, you arrive around midday and enjoy lunch in the oasis before switching from the minibus to a 4x4 Land Cruiser to start the off-road adventure. The first highlight of the day is the Black Desert, an impressive volcanic landscape covered with black basalt stones and ancient lava formations. From here, you continue toward Crystal Mountain, where you’ll stop to admire its glittering quartz formations and take photos of this natural wonder. The route then leads deeper into the wilderness, driving off-road toward the dramatic cliffs and sand formations of Agabat Valley. As the sun sets, your camp is set up in this remote and spectacular landscape. Enjoy a traditional Bedouin dinner and freshly brewed Bedouin tea before settling under the clear desert sky for your first night camping beneath the stars.
A Journey Through Hidden Valleys
After breakfast at the campsite, you have some time to walk around and enjoy the quiet beauty of the desert landscape before continuing your expedition. The day begins with a visit to the Magic Spring, also known as the Roman Spring, an unexpected pocket of life in the heart of the desert. From there, the journey continues toward the Big Valley, where you stop beneath natural palm trees for a relaxed lunch and a short rest in the shade. In the afternoon, you drive onward to the White Desert, a protected area famous for its otherworldly chalk formations and wind-carved sculptures that create one of Egypt’s most surreal landscapes. As the sun sets over the white cliffs, you settle in for your second night of camping, surrounded by the soft silence and unique beauty of the desert.
White Desert - Farafra - Dakhla
You begin the day with breakfast in the White Desert, taking a moment to enjoy the peaceful sunrise as it lights up the chalk formations around you. After packing up camp, you return to the main road and switch back to your van at Bahariya Oasis before continuing the journey south through Egypt’s chain of desert oases. The first stop is Farafra, followed by the wider and more fertile Dakhla Oasis. Here you explore the remarkable El-Mozawaka Tombs, known for their vivid Greco-Roman funerary artwork, before heading to Al-Qasr, a beautifully preserved Islamic-era village with narrow alleys, ancient wooden lintels, and traditional mud-brick architecture. After the visits, you continue driving through the desert landscape until you reach Kharga Oasis, where you settle into your hotel for a night.
Kharga’s Ancient Heritage
After breakfast at the hotel, the day begins with a visit to the impressive Hibis Temple, one of the best-preserved monuments from Egypt’s Persian period and a rare example of architecture from this era. You then continue to El-Bagawat, one of the oldest Christian cemeteries in the world, where hundreds of mud-brick chapels and remarkable early Christian inscriptions tell the story of a unique desert community. Following the visit, you leave Kharga behind and begin the final drive toward Luxor, marking the end of your desert journey. Upon arrival in Luxor check in a cozy hotel and overnight.
