Cairo to Fayoum 3 day bird watching tour lets you visit the most important bird watching spots of the oasis: Wadi El Rayan lakes, Qarun lake and Tunis village wetlands.
Wetlands are probably the most important habitat for birds in Egypt. one of the best wetlands to spot rare birds are Wadi El-Rayan protected area and Qarun Lake Nature Reserve in Fayoum oasis. these are the best places to see herons, egrets, Purple Gallinule, Painted snipe, waders and pied Kingfisher. Wetland fringes, especially where there are bushes and reeds, will be host to many other species as well.
Our three day tour to Fayoum oasis is designed for all bird watchers either novice or advanced, so you get the most observations possible during your tour to the unique and picturesque areas of Fayoum oases.
If you arrive at Cairo International Airport we can pick up you from there for the tour, if you are already in Cairo and want to go bird watching to Fayoum for some days we are happy to pick you up from your location in Cairo. Transfer to a hotel in Fayoum will take a while. Fayoum is the nearest oasis to Cairo and is located just 100 km far from Giza pyramids. Upon arrival in Fayoum we will check in our cozy hotel and have some rest. Free evening at your discretion as we have an early rise in the morning.
Early morning start for bird watching at Wadi El-Rayan protected area, an area with two lakes and sand dunes. Look out for species such as the black-winged stilt, the white pelican, the little grebe, the red-necked phalarope, and the western marsh harrier. After the 1st morning tour we return to our hotel for breakfast and some rest. In the afternoon we will continue our bird watching activities and go to the nearby Mudawara Mountain for more bird watching opportunities. Keep an eye out for the Sinai rosefinch, the Barbary falcon, and the Egyptian vulture.
Morning bird watching at Tunis Village, a small oasis surrounded by desert. Look out for the grey hypocolius, the pale rockfinch, and the desert wheatear, among others. Afternoon visit to Qarun Lake Nature Reserve, the largest saltwater lake in Egypt. Look out for the black-necked grebe, the common tern, the marsh sandpiper, and the pygmy cormorant.
After the tour transfer back to Cairo.
