Let's discover some ancient artifacts found in Saqqara and exhibited in a special museum totally dedicated to Saqqara findings, known as Imhotep museum. Only here rare and unique pieces can be found on display since the exposition constantly replenishes.
This museum is unique since its exposition features artifacts and antiquities excavated in the necropolis of Saqqara and not displayed anywhere else. The main purpose of the museum is to show the most significant artifacts found in Saqqara.
Entering the first of the six museum rooms, visitors are greeted by a pedestal with a statue of King Djoser, found in a small shrine to the south of the entrance colonnade of his funeral complex. In the second gallery, entitled “The Mission of Saqqara”, the most recent discoveries are presented, which were discovered in Saqqara by various archaeological missions. Among the collection is the famous well-preserved golden anthropoid sarcophagus. A collection of stone vessels used for cosmetic purposes and ointments dating from the early dynastic period awaits you in the hall called “Sakkara Styles”.
A hall called Sakkara Sarcophagi will introduce you to the contents of the ancient tombs.
