Military Museum in Cairo Citadel is situated in the 19th century palace, owned by Muhammad Ali. You will not only get acquainted with the military history of Egypt, but also visit a unique palace in which the kings from the dynasty of Muhammad Ali lived.
The museum was opened in 1937, and its exhibition of historical content was presented on a small area in the building of the Ministry of Defense and the fleet. The Military Museum is located in the palace of El Haramlek, which is considered one of the most beautiful palaces built by Muhammad Ali Pasha, ruler of Egypt from 1805 to 1843. The museum presents military expositions relating to the ancient, middle and modern history of Egypt. There is a hall dedicated to the revolution of July 23, 1952, the “small” aggression of Egypt in 1956, support for the war of the Yemen revolution in 1962 and the October war in 1973.
In addition, you can see a large exhibition of clothing, weapons and flags, which reflects the development of the Egyptian army from the very beginning of its history to the present day. A large number of statues, paintings and photographs of the Egyptian leaders, ruling the country for different centuries can be found in the halls of the museum. As well as examples of old Egyptian castles, fortifications and battle scenes that the Egyptian army had throughout its history.
