Luxor to Aswan & Abu Simbel Tour: A 2-Day Monumental Journey Embark on a 2-day Aswan & Abu Simbel tour. Explore Philae Temple, the Nubian Museum, and the magnificent Abu Simbel temples. Book your unforgettable individual excursion from Luxor today!
Your individual two-day excursion begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Luxor by our English-speaking representative. You'll board a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle for the scenic drive south to Aswan (approximately 3 hours).
Your first stop in Aswan is the monumental Aswan High Dam. This engineering marvel, completed in 1970, tamed the Nile river, created Lake Nasser, and forever changed the landscape of Egypt. From the top of the dam, you'll get breathtaking views and learn about its profound impact on Egypt's economy and agriculture.
Next, we visit the granite quarries of ancient Aswan to see the Unfinished Obelisk. Still attached to the bedrock, this massive obelisk was abandoned due to a crack. It provides an unparalleled open-air lesson in how the ancient Egyptians carved these gigantic monuments. Its immense size will leave you astonished.
The morning continues with a visit to the breathtaking Philae Temple. Board a traditional motorboat for a relaxing ride to the island of Agilkia. Here, you'll explore the beautifully preserved Temple of Isis, a sacred complex dedicated to the goddess of magic and healing. Wander through its pylons, courts, and chapels, imagining the ancient rituals that once took place here.
We'll return to Aswan for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, you'll check into your hotel for a few hours of rest.
Optional Activity: In the evening, you can choose to enhance your tour with a visit to the stunning Nubia Museum (available for an additional fee). This world-class museum houses a incredible collection of artifacts that tell the story of Nubian culture and history, perfectly complementing the day's sights.
We depart very early (around 3:00 AM) for the unforgettable drive to Abu Simbel. The journey is made in a convoy for safety, and you'll arrive as the sun rises (around 6:00 AM), a magical time to see the temples.
Prepare to be awestruck by the grandeur of the Great Temple of Ramses II, with its four colossal statues of the pharaoh guarding the entrance. Just beside it is the equally impressive Temple of Hathor, built for Ramses' beloved wife, Queen Nefertari. You'll have ample time for a walking tour of both temples and the surrounding area, learning about the incredible international effort that relocated them to save them from flooding.
After completing the tour, we begin the return journey to Luxor. The drive is approximately 5 hours. You will be dropped off directly at your hotel in Luxor, filled with memories of an incredible Egyptian adventure.
